DeakinPrime and WorkSafe Victoria collaborate
July 8, 2011
DeakinPrime, in collaboration with WorkSafe Victoria's Premium Division and through industry consultation, delivered the first ever workshop of the Certificate IV in Premium Compliance qualification in March this year.
It is a specific qualification for the workers compensation industry and is the result of an expressed need from the Premium Compliance sector for this qualification. New competencies have been developed to ensure compliance with WorkSafe regulations and supporting legislation.
The development of the qualification was originally initiated by Business Skills Victoria at the request of WorkSafe Victoria.
Since 2009, DeakinPrime has been involved in the design, development and now, the delivery of the qualification which consists of three distinct modules, each with its own theme.
The training is for premium and credit officers who are the primary points of contact for employers regarding their WorkSafe injury insurance premium obligations.
As mentioned, it is the first time any such training has been provided for this target group and the feedback to date has been enormously positive:
'More of these workshops and training should be offered to the premium credit division for further career and personal enhancement.'
'Should have more such workshops and courses.'
At present, the qualification is recognised in Victoria only, although the aim is to have a nationally endorsed Certificate IV in Personal Injury Management (Underwriting) which will allow other states and jurisdictions in the workers compensation/personal injury industry to follow suit.
