Li Cunxin’s Resilience: My Story
From impossible beginnings and utter poverty, Li Cunxin ended up becoming not only one of the top dancers of time – but also a successful stockbroker and recipient of the Australian Father of the Year award in 2009.
Li’s life defining moments were presented to a captivated audience on March 23, 2011 at DeakinPrime’s new state-of-the-art facilities situated in the heart of the CBD.
There is no denying that Li Cunxin’s life embodies success. How Li accomplished his numerous personal and professional feats was not with talent alone, but with a great amount of self-belief, resilience and a deep-seated commitment to grab hold of any opportunities that came his way.
Li Cunxin brought home the fact that these days we are privileged to live in a society where there are “boundless opportunities and possibilities, yet how many times do we stop to notice the small moments?”.
According to Li, achieving great feats in life is not impossible. If you have a burning desire which drives you to run that extra mile, work that little bit later, put in that extra effort, coupled with an optimistic attitude and the ability to bounce back from adversity, then you are on the right track to achieving success, whatever that may mean to you.

Stuart Taylor: Resilient Leadership Workshop
“Resilient people seek optimistic realistic thinking”
To complement Li Cunxin’s inspirational presentation, Stuart Taylor of the Resilience Institute facilitated two energetic workshops on the topic of ‘Resilient Leadership’.
Stuart’s facilitation style was engaging, exuberant and – according to Fadia Mitir from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade – “enjoyable and not to forget entertaining”.
The interactive workshop provided participants with the opportunity to explore the various requirements for building resilience, stress and mastery flow, sleep optimisation and cognitive discipline.
On completion of the workshop, participants were armed with a myriad of practical tools they could easily integrate into their lives, and the awareness of waking up each day with a view to putting their whole self into what they have chosen to do.
Testimonials and quotes
Two hours of excellent material, a framework for the individual, team, organisation to move forward positively and engage in a different way with each other – thanks Stuart.
– Steve Crosby, Ford
I really enjoyed the workshop – in particular the presentation style and interaction. The only suggestion is that it be longer (say four hours) to incorporate more interactive exercises. Thank you for the experience.
– Sandra Draganich, Minter Ellison Lawyers
It was such a great workshop. I got a great deal out of it and it really helped build on some of the work our People and Culture team has been doing in the resilience, happiness and optimism space.
