BMW Australia
In keeping with BMW’s need to deliver a learning program that was relevant to the business and challenging, DeakinPrime offered the Diploma in Business in customised format aligned to the core competencies that BMW Group Australia identified as being critical for business success.
BMW is a leading luxury car marque in Australia, and is a technical and innovative leader in the global automotive industry.
The European brand, which celebrated its 90th birthday in 2007, has been at the pinnacle of luxury sales for four years in a row. BMW remains Australia’s biggest supplier of luxury passenger cars and luxury all-wheel-drive vehicles.
BMW is ever responsive to changing market conditions and has broadened its offering of sporty diesel engines for which it is widely acclaimed in Europe. BMW now offers eight diesel models.
Underpinning this success is the strength of the BMW culture; the culture reinforces the philosophy that customers should have the right to expect the best sales staff, service, technicians and finest facilities to complement and safeguard their investment.
Passion and drive to be the best are hallmarks of the BMW Group, a technical pioneer and innovation leader in the global automotive industry. BMW Group Australia’s success as a leader in the luxury car market is derived from the professional strength, agility and passion of its employees.
BMW vehicles are world technology leaders—this means that BMW has been required to continually break new industry ground and venture into technical areas where there has been no external training or expertise available. In 2001, BMW established a state-of-the-art, $3 million training centre in Mulgrave, Melbourne, to facilitate this need; since this time, technical training across all tiers has gone from strength to strength.
However, a challenge still existed with management training for high potential staff. These were typically individuals who moved quickly up the ranks but still needed support with middle management skills. Some of these staff members had not undertaken any formal study for many years but were talented in executing their roles at BMW and taking on significant business responsibilities.
At this stage of their careers, they were seeking professional development that would provide practical, work-related content with some theoretical base.
BMW needed to source a provider that understood the BMW promise of Sheer Driving Pleasure, the BMW culture and the high expectations that customers had. The organisation was also looking for an education provider that could provide a flexible mode of delivery, thus enabling staff to manage the competing demands of their professional, study and personal lives.
DeakinPrime was chosen to assist in upskilling various employees, including parts interpreters, specialists and managers, service advisors, managers and high-potential dealership staff around Australia.
In keeping with BMW’s need to deliver a learning program that was relevant to the business and challenging, DeakinPrime offered the Diploma in Business in customised format aligned to the core competencies that BMW Group Australia identified as being critical for business success.
