CPA Australia's CPA Program is assessed by open book examinations conducted at the end of first and second semester each year.
RPP and CGA examinations contain a multiple-choice component (70%) and a written response component (30%). The BSL examination comprises 80 per cent written response and 20 per cent multiple choice questions.
Marking of written response examination questions takes place in a restricted period in late May (first semester) and mid November (second semester).
In order for marking to be carried out according to consistent standards, a team of knowledgeable and committed markers is required to work intensively over a weekend under the guidance of CPA Australia's chief examiners. A detailed marking guide is provided to assist markers and to promote a uniform approach to marking.
Markers must hold CPA status to mark RPP and CGA papers. To mark BSL examination papers, a background in middle and senior management with experience in strategic planning is sought along with relevant qualifications.
